To Blow Dry or To Air Dry?

Should the hair be blow dried or air dried?  Our comprehensive beauty tips on drying your hair can help.

It is really a personal choice only. Usually, the people who choose blow drying do not have too much time on their hand, and they want to obtain the best styling for their hair in the limited time available. Now the air drying aficionados believe that blow drying can damage their hair very fast and is a wastage of valuable electricity.

Which is better, you may ask?

There are pros and cons for each side of this argument. And there is a right way and wrong way to do both of these kinds of hair drying. Some of those are described here.

Air drying.

Mostly air drying is preferred by people who have short or curly or low cost hair styles. Some people with long hair also prefer air drying for the fact that air drying will not subject their hair to too much heat. Thus the hair will be less prone to damage when compared with the case of blow drying.

Your hair is at its lowest strength when it is wet after shower. You have to keep this fact in mind when you air dry your hair. Never rub a towel on your hair in order to get it dry. The friction between the hair and towel will make the hair weak and may eventually lead it to break. It would be better to blot the water out of your hair with a towel than rubbing. Avoid pulling or tugging on your hair as much as possible while your hair is still wet. After all the water is removed, it would be better to fluff it out with use of your fingers.

Blow Drying.

Blow drying is the most common form of hair drying for most of the world as a majority of them live a fast paced life and it is the most convenient way to dry your hair. Blow drying has another advantage in that it gives more volume to your hair. Even with all these positives, it has its disadvantages too. If you over do blow drying, that may damage your hair. It will make your hair really weak.

Never blow dry your hair if it is soaked in water. First, you need to blot water out of your hair with a towel. Never keep the dryer too close to your hair. It has to be held at least half a feet away from your hair and keep on moving the dryer always from one part of your hair to another. Do not let the tips of your hair dry too much. You can bend over and let your hair fall up side down and blow dry your hair to achieve this result. Do not blow dry your hair completely. Stop the hair dryer when the hair is still a little bit damp.

It is totally up to you to choose between blow drying or air drying depending on your personal preferences and free time available to you. Whatever be your choice, you still have to be very careful in taking care of your fragile hair.
