Hydroxy acids are natural ingredients, which softly lift and remove the dead cells of your skin. These mild acids are natural exfoliants and can increase the cell generation and improve the texture of the skin.

Natural exfoliants are basically two types:
• Alpha hydroxyl acids have a “drop off” rate meaning it will work only when there are dead cells to exfoliate.
• Beta hydroxyl acids do not have a “drop off” rate and will continue to exfoliate even after the dead cells have been removed. As such, there is greater chance for it to irritate the skin.

A night treatment usually requires a natural exfoliant to remove the dead cells. The abrasive physical facial scrubs, which are available for exfoliation, are known to be irritating to the skin. Products containing alpha hydoxy acids are the best choice.
