Basic Hues Nail Styles:

The most easy to do style of manicure is the basic solid color one. In case you are wearing open toed shoes, you need to make sure that you apply the right shade on your nails to complement your dress thus resulting in improving your looks and confidence. Subdued neutral and mild shades gives the best impression on the first look. Fancier tones like black or silver can be left for later application.

The color shades you chose should be matching the design of your outfit. If your dress is patterned, then pick out one of the shades in that pattern for your nail polish color to complement each other. Do not pick the most prominent color on the dress pattern. Choose some other shade.

You can try another stylistic look. First apply a basic solid color coat on your nails and allow it to dry completely. Once it is really dry you can use a tooth pick or a very thin brush to paint or draw a thin line diagonally in a different shade. Follow this on each nail doing the line the same way. If they come out to be really uniform, that would look great. Once you get more confidence, you may try fancier free style designs as well.

School Spirited Nail Styles:

For college or school going kids, it would be good to add some school pride by painting the shade of your school colors on your nails. Some of the many ways you can do this are as follows:

You can paint each of your school colors on each finger nail. If your school colors are red and black, apply red on your thumb nail, black on your index finger, red on the middle finger and so on. Use only one color for the whole of one finger nail.

Another method is by painting all of your fingers with one of the school colors and then once the nail is dry, painting the tip in the other school color.

If you are a little more daring, you can paint one coat on your nails and then write the school cheer with the help of a tooth pick or a very fine brush. It could be like, "Go Hounds" if your school mascot is "hounds". You can use your school name as well.

You can let your creative juices flowing, and draw any design you like to try, like your school mascot or any thing you feel like.

A Girl’s Night Out Nail Styles:

You can try any thing crazy and fun to get all the attention you can, by trying designs like zebra stripes, metallic glints etc. This would be great for a date in town or a night of partying at a club.

Apply a neutral tone of base coat on your nails similar to a French manicure, may be in salmon color. Wait till the nails are dry and then apply a white hue on the tips of your nails as uniformly as you can. This will be especially good if you have naturally long nails and you can follow its angle of growth.

Glitter and glamour nail styles – Find a matching enamel color of your dress and use it as a base coat on all of your nails. If necessary, paint another coat once the first one is dry. Now you can use some matching glass coat of either clear gloss or sparkle coat and create your own free style finishing touch. The right combination for silver glitter is either black or dark blue. The same for red glitter is gold. The sky is your limit as far as combinations are concerned. You can try these glitter designs with any outfits like a wedding wear, casual wear, semi formal wear etc.

If you add a layer of clear coat to your nails every day, that will prevent the polish from breaking out. This will save you some time in nail styling. If you are not confident enough to do these designs on your own, then you can play around with decals or nail transfers. Some times it won't come out right; but never lose hope as you will improve your skills after each failure and it will be a lot easier the next time.
