If you wore a nice and tidy shirt, you will be treated with high respect. Since for the other people, who you are meeting with, it is giving them respect, by the way you present yourself to them that they could find comfortable. However, by over dressing yourself, whether you are a man or woman, it might also bring in some drawback, since you might as well present your clothes to the opposite person instead of presenting yourself.
Therefore, the best way you could present yourself is by wearing decent fashionable clothes without making the opposite person uncomfortable. You should be able to choose clothes that compliment you well enough and let the person meet you than be shocked by the clothes you wear. It is indeed important to remember that your clothes are in fact the tool to help you shine.
