Women are known to go to any extreme to gain perfect eyebrows.
This has been an age old practice and the eyebrow designs have been constantly getting changed through the centuries. The most well known eyebrow is that of Monalisa. She does not have any eyebrows! Well…that was the fashion then. Do men used to groom their eyebrows? There have been a few historical references of men dying their eyebrows and grooming them. In the last century or so, grooming of men’s eyebrows was considered to be more on the ‘girlie man’ side. An example would be the well done eye brows of Silvester Stallone.
During recent years, with the advent of metrosexual man, more and more men are starting to groom their eyebrows. Many of them were reluctant to go for it in the first place. Then they went for it once for a special occasion like a wedding or a special function on the insistence of their girl friends or fiancé. Later, finding the difference in their appearance through the procedure, many of them returned on their own and started to get their eyebrows groomed in a regular basis. So much so that the British department store chain Debenhams has started ‘guybrow nights’! Those nights are exclusively reserved for men to get their eyebrows done!
The most common problem faced by many men is the ‘unibrow’. For these people, there is no separation between their brows. The available options for fixing this condition are shaving, plucking, threading etc. Shaving is usually done by the person himself. But the hair is bound to regrow back. Plucking involves the actual plucking of unnecessary hair with the help of a tweezer. By its nature, it is a painful procedure. And you have to do it one hair at a time! As this removes the root of the hair, regrowth will be delayed significantly. In some cases, if you pluck the hair repeatedly, the hair may stop growing back altogether.
Threading is a different version of plucking where a bunch of hairs are removed together with the help of a cotton thread at one time. This is still going to hurt. But the pain will be lesser, as more hair are being removed at a time. This way, the duration and repetition of the process is reduced drastically. This has been a procedure which used to be in practice in India for ages. Now threading has come to even the western world and starting to help the men who suffer from abundance of hair in unwanted places!
