People come with very different shades of skin colors.

Apply milk on to your face with the help of a piece of cloth and wash it off after 15 minutes. Milk is a natural skin whitener and can provide great results. This is exactly the reason why Cleopatra used to take bath in milk!!

Lemon has cleansing properties. You can apply lemon juice on to your neck and face from a cut lemon piece and wash it off after a little while. If you do this on a regular basis, it will add an extra glow on to your skin in a very short while.

Applying honey on skin has the same effect as milk and lemon also. Alternatively you can apply a mixture of all three of these products together also.

Sweaty places like underarms can get darker due to the sweat accumulated there. The uric acid in the sweat can cause the skin to darken over long time. The skin under hairy areas can darken pretty fast after shaving. This is due to the loss of the top skin layer during shaving. The new skin under this top layer is more susceptible to darken due to reaction with sweat. Reaction to the hair removal products used also can cause hair darkening.

These darkening can be removed with the use of any of the above said products for a long duration.

Regular use of a quality sunscreen can help your skin from getting dark. You need to apply sunscreen on your face and hands, as they are the most exposed to the harmful rays of the sun.

    My job demands that i stay outdoors a lot, hence my skin looks very dull, dark and greasy. I also have dark circles. How can i look fresh and fair throughout the day?

    Hi Liza, it is a very valid question affecting todays working women.

    Keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Try to avoid junk food, sweets, greasy and oily stuff. Make sure you apply an oil free sunscreen before stepping out of the house. Massage the eye area with almond oil daily. You can also apply grated cucumber as an eye mask. Do let us know how it worked out :D
