How to treat scars and get your beautiful skin back?

A beautiful face is supposed to be clear of any scars.

This is true about the rest of your body also. But it is practically impossible to avoid scars altogether.

A scar is formed as a result of body’s defense mechanism to handle any cuts made on skin. Excess collagen is produced so as to heal the wound and this later becomes a scar. The severity and nature of the scar can vary depending on the person and his/her racial origin.

Let us take a look at the types of scars you may get on your skin and some beauty tips to get your glowing skin back.

Types of scars

Keloid Scar
This is a raised, excessive scar extending beyond the boundary of the skin injury and is commonly seen in people of African origin.

Hypertrophic Scar
This is a scar caused due to too much collagenation, but it does not extend past the boundary of the injury, and can be seen in people of any origin.

Contracture Scar
This scar is where a portion of the skin has been lost or damaged as a result of the injury. This could affect the mobility of the body part.

Atrophic Scar or Acne Scar
This type of scar is caused by acne, which causes the destruction of collagen contained in skin surface. As a result, a hole or depression is formed on the skin.

How to treat scars?

Makeup to cover up scars
One of the most common and cheap methods to handle scars is by using makeup to cover them up.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser technology can be used to vaporize the top layer of the scar and thus reduce its appearance. This in turn will increase the production of new cells.

Microdermabrasion
This method involves slowly scraping away the top layer of the skin and thus exposing new skin.

Chemical Peels
A chemical peel could be used for severe acne scarring and mild and superficial scars.

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion involves scraping of the top layer of the skin by a hand tool, some times under anesthesia.

Collagen Injections
Collagen is injected under the skin to reduce the scar’s appearance.

Skin needs care whether it is day or night. But because your skin functions differently while you are asleep, it is the perfect time to give it some extra nourishment. Just as your body renews itself for the next day while you sleep, so does your waking hours, a night cream will enhance your skin’s renewal process while you sleep. Day moisturizers are formulated to improve make-up wear and protect against the harsh environmental conditions besides moisturizing the skin. Night treatments, not having these limitations, can be formulated to give maximum skin renewal benefits.

Hi i have scars from dog bite, am 27 and wondering if i can get my beautiful skin scar free again. Please help me know what product to use.

Alicia, one can only reduce the appearance of marks on the skin, completely removing it may not be possible. What you can do is by using 0.1 percent Tretinoin cream, also known as Retin-A, on dog bite marks, it will considerably reduce the size of the dog bite marks by a little bit. Do not use this if you are pregnant or breast feeding as this is a completely new method.

Laser therapy is another option through which you can reduce the visibility of dog bite marks to an extent.

This is usual, to avoid after pregnancy stretch marks, one should take care during the pregnancy period itself, when the skin actually starts extending. There are lots of tips available here
