Enjoy thanksgiving in a healthy way!!

Thanksgiving is an occasion when every one thanks God for all the great things he gave you during the past year.

Thanksgiving has its origins as a harvest festival where people used to thank god for the good crop they received.

Of late thanksgiving has been turned in to an occasion to have a large amount of great food. A big roasted turkey is the main
part of the thanksgiving dinner. Recently the habit of deep-frying the turkey has also started to gain popularity. Any thing deep-fried is great in taste. The same is true in the case of turkey also. The only problem is that all the oil, which you consume while eating deep fried turkey, is not good for your health. It is not at all good for your heart as the oil can clog your arteries.

The practice of deep-frying has led to instances of fires erupting when you heat a large amount of oil required to cook a big turkey. Be careful and avoid burning down your house or getting burns on yourselves.

You need not stay away from enjoying your thanksgiving meal for fear of gaining weight. If you can, try to control the amount
of food you consume. Some people like me will find it hard to control what we are going to eat on a special day like thanksgiving. All you have to do is to stick to your exercise regimen to get rid of all the additional calories you gain over the thanksgiving weekend.

Drink a lot of water to help your body maintain it in peak shape. Control the consumption of alcohol as it has a lot of calories in it. Try to reduce the consumption of sodas and other sweet items. If at all you eat desserts, reduce the portion size and number of desserts as much as possible. Sugar has a lot of calories in it. Try to reduce fried items during your thanks giving dinner.

Above all enjoy thanksgiving to the fullest!! Stick to your fitness routine as well. If you do not have one, it is high time you start one!! Make this thanksgiving an occasion to start a healthier lifestyle!!
