Acne Treatment Medication For Extreme Cases

Oral antibiotics

There are some good oral antibiotics for acne treatment out there with good results. They could be used up to a year without problem. You could find the difference of the medication after six weeks. But the full effect will be seen only after six months. Erythromycin, minocycline and tetracycline are the common oral antibiotics used.

Antibacterial cream

Benzoyl peroxide can be used to get rid of the bacteria which causes inflammation. You can buy it as over the counter creams and lotions at 2.5%, 5% and 10% strength. They are also available by prescription with the same concentrations in the gel form as well. There is no proven difference between any of the concentrations or creams, solutions and gels.

NOTE: Side effects of Benzoyl peroxide include hypersensitivity, irritation, and very rare case of contact dermatitis. Benzoyl peroxide has bleaching properties and hence need to be kept away from clothes.
